The Journey Begins
My first submission.
TELEPHONES
Telephones are wonderful things You can talk with friends and relatives Witter all day and half the night Without a care for the imperatives They lay on your desk or in your pocket They are made of shiny plastic But consider this if they didn’t ring Would it not be fantastic
Wishful Thinking
Where is everybody?
Where is everyone, I am posting but don’t see any body else posting poems. What happened?
There’s one poem and one link there on here so far other than yours, and lots of people still writing – also not everyone will post links or poems. Some people have also posted poems on LinkIn and Facebook instead.
Creativity burns Within A fire Skill built Inspiration lit Fuelled by ideas Sending concepts To the stars
It’s all good. I enjoy reading poems as much as I like writing them, and thought that I would have the opportunity to read more. I will check LinkedIn to see from time to time. Thank you for getting back to me as I felt so isolated.
Leonard Pym, yes telephones are wonderful, but they can also box you in. I enjoyed the read.
The New Thralldom
I thought this would be a more interactive challenge, but I see it’s not. It’s a good idea I must not be in the right “poetic cirlce” because I can’t find anyone else on LinkedIn or on your Facebook posting any poems.

Day 2: http://www.snell-pym.org.uk/alaric/wopowrimo-2013/2.txt
A couple of people are posting here – and the group in general post lots of poems to read.

Most people however will not post their poems as they are using it as a drive to get stuff for publication or their coursework. This thread is for those wishing to share it isn’t a compulsory part of the challenge.
GRANDDAUGHTER
A granddaughter sits upon my knee She likes a cuddle and perhaps a hug I talk nonsense and she laughs with me My granddaughter I love more than life For she is a beautiful little girl I watch her play and smile pleasure Each day she grows more lovely like a pearl
Linda Jones Malonson I enjoyed your poems and now I have found my way through the electronic maze I will try to keep up.
Verbosity my latest poem 🙂 http://turquoise.monsters.wigglypets.co.uk/?p=912
the Dichotomy Of Pretty
4th Day. I forgot to post this. I decided that I will continue this journey no matter what.
A Blank Canvas
5th Day. Hope you enjoy this, I had to do a lot of research to write this one.
Lamentations.
6th Day. Yes, I know, I am feeling real down right about now.
Leonard I know how you feel, I have thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Once upon a time they were the joy of my life. I enjoyed the poem.
Alaric I read both or yours, short but sweet.
ALL IN MY MIND
People say you are only as old as you feel ] I stretch my aching joints poor old me ] In many ways I hope they are wrong ] For if they are right it makes me ninety three ] Time passes slowly for some fast for others ] I look back and think of places I have been ] However in spite of my aged and battered body ] My mind insists beyond doubt I am only eighteen ]
Leonard I call that “mind over matter”, and it’s all good! In spite of all the aches and pains that goes along with being old, I think it’s the most beautiful thing in the world to know you know you know. I enjoyed the poem.
Day 7: Re-Masking
Day 8: An Impotent Life
Glad to see you are trying to make it to the end of the challenge Linda!
Leonard, you are creating some lovely poems there keep going.
Alaric the translations of your poems are beautiful but have you considered making audio recordings so that we can hear what they sound like un-translated? Just a thought.
I enjoy writing and reading poems … and I have no problem keeping up, but I feel, well … so excluded trying to be a part of something when there is little or no interaction, and little or no feedback. So I am bowing out. Maybe if I am around I will try again next year.
Linda we are sorry that you are bowing out but hope to see you back next year as your poems have been fantastic so far. I think though you might find poetry forums a better place to get instant feed back.

TRANQUILITY]
VEGETABLES
In the world of vegetables and fruit
Their first concern is always the root
No joy is felt just a lot of fright
for all fear not getting enough light
Only the mushroom ever feels high
Because he alone is the delicious fun guy
SLEEP]
I have to find a remedy] to give me comfort sure] one that will work for me] and provide me with respite or a cure]
But to be fair] my most productive hours are now] I can pluck work out of the air] enjoying the tranquility of my wakeful hour.]
RHYME
I’ll not claim to be a poet] and only write a few] but I shall try from now on] to pen some more for you.]
PENNED
COLD WEATHER
CATS & DOGS
MARY
7 Mary, Mary quite contrary,] yYou’re beautiful you know.] You sit and watch from the window] you run to get out of the door,] you like to play in the garden] you play on the bedroom floor.] You rock on the horse till it tumbles] you roll off the settee with glee,] you jump around with the rabbit] then you settle for cuddles with me.]
JEAN
You are developing your self reliance] knows what she needs to do.] Oh but you’ve guessed,] she’d leave all the rest] to spend time with me and you.]
MY PRAYER
FUNGI]
MY FUN
A CAVE
There once was a guy called Dave,] who wanted to live in a cave,] but the rain it came down,] and he thought he might drown,] so he rode out of the cave on a wave!]
GRAND CHILDREN
Grandchildren make you smile] its nice to be with them awhile,] I like what they do and] the way they say shoe!] meaning can we walk up the road in style]
HEDGEHOGS
The hedgehogs wander far and wide
Protected only by their prickly hide
Slugs snails and beetles they devour
But they make some gardeners feel quite sour
Sadly such people simply refuse to bend
To see the hedgehog as their best friend
CHILDREN
Children are such wonderful things
They love without question
If you are fat or thin or have odd features
They care not at all
For their love is always honest
THE HUNTERS
The sisters hunt by night or day
Silently they stalk their prey
Without mercy they make their kill
It reduces the families food bill
Mice moles squirrels and rats
All are food for black and white pussycats
MICE
I care neither a jot nor tittle
Where the mice do widdle
After all they are only little
FLEAS
Hedgehog spiky, hedgehog fat, you’ll share the food of the local cat. But unlike him there’s no welcome at home, you’re better off outside to roam. ‘Cos whilst your lazing at your ease, you’ll give everyone there your fleas.
